Prices and payments
Our books are priced in British Pound Sterling (GBP) and our online transactions are processed through Stripe. Stripe is certified as a PCI Level 1 Service Provider, all transactions are securely handled and no card data is stored at our end. For more detail, please see: https://stripe.com/docs/security/stripe
We are unable to provide prices in local currencies at the moment. We are not responsible for currency fluctuations, conversion rates, and any additional fees that may be incurred by customers during transactions. We try to make things as easy as possible by offering a flat rate upfront for all our books and subscriptions, inclusive of shipping and taxes, without any surprise additions at the payment stage.
The shop on our website allows payments using most debit and credit cards that are widely supported. If you have any problems making a payment using your bank card, or if you prefer to pay through PayPal, please contact us. If you prefer to pay by direct bank transfer (to a UK account only) please contact us. All sales on the website are final and non-refundable under general conditions.
Books carry 0% of Value Added Tax (VAT) in the UK. The prices indicated for books, journal issues, and subscriptions represent the full price that you will need to pay, inclusive of taxes and postal costs.
We offer free worldwide shipping in a bid to eliminate prohibitive additional costs of ordering a book from outside the UK. The pricing of our books reflects the full cost of the book to the buyer, irrespective of where the book is ordered from. Of necessity, we have to use the cheapest postal options available to cover the costs we incur and tracking is generally not part of these services. For special orders and subscriptions involving larger number of books we may use different methods of shipping, still at no additional cost to the buyer if sent by ordinary post. We do offer a tracked option and you can indicate your preference at the point of purchase. If you have particular requirements, please contact us before making the purchase. We are unable to make any changes once orders have been placed or items dispatched.
Dispatch and returns
All ready and available books are dispatched within a week of the receipt of orders and confirmation of buyers’ addresses. Please note that our pre-orders and subscription offers mean that certain books and journal issues are ‘in preparation’ and will be dispatched as soon as they are ready. The estimated dates for the dispatch of pre-ordered books is indicated at the point of purchase. For all subscriptions, we will always confirm your latest address before making dispatches.
In general, we do not accept returns. We do our best to package and dispatch all ordered books securely via economy post. Cheap postal options are necessitated by our small scale and the relatively high international shipping costs that we cover in our bid to ship free worldwide. Each order is handled personally and individually by us, no external agencies are involved in this process besides the postal service. We care about our books and our readers, and there is no chance that your order may be overlooked or misplaced at our end.
If the books you receive have considerable physical damage or serious production-related faults, please contact us – we will file a complaint and provide a replacement copy. Minor errors and faults, physical or otherwise, may be unavoidable despite our best efforts and may not always be remediable immediately. We will, however, correct these in subsequent editions.

All enquiries and comments are welcome. We try to respond to emails within a week’s time but please bear with us if it takes us longer to get back to you – may we venture that a well-considered, well-worded, reply is worth the wait in any case!
